Summer Season 101

Whether your child is 4 or 18, whether this is your first season or your tenth, whether you are a swimmer, diver, or a parent, here is an overview of what you can expect from a (fantastic!) summer as a Barracuda….

IMPROVING SKILLS

Swimmers and divers will work with our coaches and interns to acquire new skills and polish existing ones through a variety of drills, laps, dives and simulations. Daily practices kick off at the end of May and conclude at the end of July. The swim and dive teams will switch to morning practice when school gets out in June.

Learn more on our Practice page!

COMPETING

The Swim and Dive season offers opportunities to compete at all levels. The competitive swim season begins with Time Trials. The first swim meet for team points (“A” Meet) will be held the following week on Saturday. Monday will be the first developmental “B” Meet. The competitive dive season gets underway in Mid June.

The Team Calendar can be found here!

HAVING FUN!

Our swimmers and divers will work hard with their teammates and coaches but they’ll have some fun too! Swimmers and divers will take a break from practices with classic pool games, water polo and cannon ball contests. “Fun Tuesday” is a swim team tradition, complete with silly stroke relays and dive well games.

The whole family can get in on the fun at our Friday night Pep Rallies. We'll be bringing back team meals on Fridays, so look out for opportunities to sign up to bring a dish to share each week. The team reps will have news and announcements and the coaches will celebrate the Swim and Dive “Cudas of the Week.”  Parents can relax while our interns lead the team in a spirit- and team-building activity.

Take a look at the Calendar for all upcoming events and signups!

And a note for parents…

Swim and Dive are sports that require a lot of parent involvement to make our season a success. It takes over 40 volunteers to operate a home swim meet! Most volunteer positions can be learned quickly and easily on the job. Each Swim and Dive family will have a volunteer requirement to meet, with plenty of opportunities to get credits at meets and other team events. Volunteers will sign up here on our SwimTopia site on the calendar page. We’ll keep you updated on your progress towards meeting your requirement.
